LOS ANGELES (AP) -Southern California fullback Stanley Havili is academically ineligible for the Rose Bowl against Penn State on Thursday.
USC coach Pete Carroll said told reporters after practice Tuesday that Havili would not play.
Carroll said Havili, a sophomore, is ineligible for the remainder of the first semester, but shouldn’t be affected after that and is expected to play spring football.
Havili gained 71 yards on 13 carries and caught 24 passes for 324 yards and three touchdowns this season. He ran for 134 yards with two touchdowns and caught 34 passes for 248 yards and five TDs as a redshirt freshman.
Adam Goodman, D.J. Shoemate and Rhett Ellison are expected to share playing time in Havili’s spot when No. 5 USC faces No. 6 Penn State.
