COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -Steve Spurrier expects Florida coach Urban Meyer to return to the Gators sideline after a few months of rest.
South Carolina’s coach, though, thinks Meyer must find outside interests or hobbies to help relieve the stress that comes with leading one of the nation’s top football programs.
Spurrier spoke Monday as the Gamecocks resumed preparations for this week’s Papajohns.com Bowl against Connecticut.
Spurrier was surprised Saturday when he heard of Meyer’s decision to resign, citing health issues. Spurrier was relieved a day later when Meyer reversed course with a leave of absence.
Spurrier coached Florida to a national title in 1996, and understands the pressure of maintaining a championship program.
