BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) – Mississippi football signee Chad Kelly’s lawyer tells The Associated Press he has video evidence that shows his client was not the aggressor in a fight at a downtown Buffalo nightclub.
Thomas Eoannou spoke by phone Monday, a day after Kelly was charged with resisting arrest, among other counts. Eoannou, without elaborating, said it’s ”obvious Chad was not the one who started this incident.”
The quarterback and a male companion were arrested shortly after 3 a.m. Sunday. The two allegedly attempted to re-enter the club after being ejected earlier in the night.
A police report says Kelly punched a bouncer, then scuffled with officers while being removed from a pickup, which police stopped nearby.
The 20-year-old nephew of Hall of Fame quarterback Jim Kelly signed a letter of intent last week to play at Ole Miss.
