ROME, Ga. (AP) – Sioux Falls quarterback Lorenzo Brown was honored as the Rawlings-NAIA football player of the year Friday night, the eve of the defending champion Cougars’ title game against Lindenwood.
Brown has completed 202 of 295 passes this season for 3,023 yards and 40 touchdowns. He also has run for 807 yards and 16 TDs for the Cougars (14-0).
He’s the third Sioux Falls player to win the award, following running back Nick Kortan in 2002 and quarterback Chad Cavender in 2007.
“I am thankful for representing the University of Sioux Falls,” Brown said. “There is a great tradition here. Chad pushed me to live up to what he did here and I thank him for motivating me.”
