HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) – A University of Connecticut football player has been arrested on child pornography charges.
State police say 18-year-old Greg McKee turned himself in Wednesday morning.
McKee, an offensive lineman from Chicago, has not played for the Huskies and is sitting out his freshman year.
The school announced Tuesday night that McKee had been suspended from the team but did not give a reason.
He faces charges including importing child pornography and promoting a minor in an obscene performance. An e-mail message left Wednesday for McKee seeking comment wasn’t immediately returned. It wasn’t immediately known if he has a lawyer.
Lt. J. Paul Vance, a state police spokesman, says the tip that led to the arrest came from a national computer crimes network.
UConn (8-4) is preparing to play Oklahoma (11-2) in the Fiesta Bowl on Jan. 1.
