KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -Tennessee safety Demetrice Morley was arrested Thursday on an outstanding warrant stemming from a 2007 robbery charge.
The warrant was issued in Miami after Morley failed to appear in court on Sept. 4 for a hearing related to a strong-armed robbery at Florida International University on April 24, 2007.
Morley started 10 games in 2006, but was dismissed by then-coach Phillip Fulmer for academic problems and was not on the team when he was arrested in 2007.
He was reinstated this season after improving his academic standing. He started 10 games and was tied for eighth on the team with 42 tackles and had two interceptions.
According to the report on the 2007 robbery, Morley and an FIU student robbed another student of $35, which they used to purchase food and gas.
The new hearing on the 2007 robbery is rescheduled for Dec. 23.

Tennessee athletic department spokeswoman Tiffany Carpenter said new coach Lane Kiffin, who was on a recruiting trip Thursday, has been told of Morley’s arrest and wants to meet with him.
