Alabama is heading back to the national championship game - by a mere 5 yards.
AJ McCarron threw a 45-yard touchdown pass to Amari Cooper with 3:15 remaining, and the No. 2 Crimson Tide barely held off No. 3 Georgia 32-28 in a Southeastern Conference title game for the ages.
After an apparent game-clinching interception by Alabama was overturned on a video review, Georgia's Aaron Murray completed a 15-yard pass to Arthur Lynch, a 23-yarder to Tavarres King and a 26-yarder to Lynch, who was hauled down at the Alabama 8 as the clock continued to run.
The Bulldogs were out of timeouts.
Instead of spiking the ball and gathering themselves, the Bulldog snapped the ball with 9 seconds to go. Murray attempted a pass into the corner but it was deflected at the line, winding up in the arms of Chris Conley out in the right flat.
Surprised to get the ball, he slipped down at the 5.
Georgia couldn't get off another play. Alabama celebrated as confetti fell from the Georgia Dome roof. The Bulldogs collapsed on the field, stunned they had come so close to knocking off the team that has won two of the past three national titles.
The Tide will get a chance to make it three out of four when they face top-ranked Notre Dame for the BCS crown on Jan. 7 in Miami.
8-Associated Press national titles by Alabama and Notre Dame, tied for most all-time.

95.8-Completion percentage by West Virginia's Geno Smith, matching the single-game Bowl Subdivision record set by Tennessee's Tee Martin against South Carolina in 1998.
223-Career receptions by Oregon State's Markus Wheaton, breaking James Rodgers' school record.
350-Yards rushing by Alabama against Georgia to set an SEC title game record.
Alex Singleton got up and celebrated after muscling his way in for what he thought was the touchdown that clinched the Conference USA championship for Tulsa.
Told he was going to have to try again, there was never any question what was going to happen.
Singleton ran for 100 yards and plunged over the top for a 1-yard score in overtime to lift Tulsa to a 33-27 victory over UCF for its first Conference USA title and Liberty Bowl bid since 2005.
Singleton came up with the second 100-yard game of his career, breaking the school career record for touchdowns in the process.
No replay was needed for Singleton's final score, the 41st overall of his career and the 40th on the ground. In the second quarter, Singleton broke Tarrion Adams' school mark for the most touchdowns on a 7-yard run.
The Golden Knights will play in the Beef `O' Brady's Bowl.
