TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) -Bobby Bowden will be at Florida State for at least one more year, his attorney confirmed Friday.
“We’ve come to a handshake agreement,” said attorney Russ Campbell of Birmingham, Ala. “It hasn’t been finalized yet.”
Florida State’s general counsel, Betty Steffens, said she would not discuss details of the new contract until it was signed by all parties.
Bowden’s existing contract,a five-year deal, expires in early January.
Bowden’s 373 career wins – the most among major college coaches – are two more than Penn State’s Joe Paterno.
