BLACKSBURG, Va. (AP) -At least two gunshots were fired into the apartment of a Virginia Tech student that football coach Frank Beamer identified Tuesday as cornerback Victor Harris.
Three Tech students were in the off-campus apartment where Harris lives, but police said no one was injured in the shootings early Sunday morning. No one has been arrested, and Capt. Bruce Bradbery said Tuesday that police were looking for a small black car.
Police responded to the apartment complex at 3:49 a.m. after residents reported hearing gunshots.
Officers recovered evidence that seven shots were fired from a 9 mm handgun - two of them into the apartment - and a single shotgun blast hit the front of the multiunit apartment building.
``The front of the place was kind of riddled with bullets,'' Bradbery said.
He added there was damage to the interior.
Bradbery said police would not confirm the identity of the apartment's occupant. ``It's horribly dangerous,'' he said.
``What I know, I don't think any of our people are involved here,'' Beamer said. ``That's the last I'm talking about that until the police investigation is done.''
Harris, who goes by the nickname ``Macho,'' is a junior from Richmond. He has started for the last two seasons at cornerback and this season leads the Atlantic Coast Conference in passes defended with 15, including four interceptions.
