COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) -A defense lawyer says former Missouri running back Derrick Washington may ask to be tried elsewhere on charges of sexual assault and domestic violence.
The charges led to the preseason dismissal of the one-time Tiger captain, who dropped out of school.
Washington is accused of entering the closed bedroom of a former Missouri tutor and sexually assaulting the sleeping woman while visiting her roommate in late June.
In August, Washington was charged with domestic assault after an ex-girlfriend said he hit her in the face several times and choked her during an argument.
Defense attorney Chris Slusher said Friday he may ask a Boone County judge for a change of venue because of heavy publicity. Slusher also says0 Washington wants to appear before a jury.
