 No. 11 TCU (9-1) at No. 10 Utah (9-0), 8 p.m. (CBS College Sports Ne,0222twork)
Line: TCU by 2
Series record: Utah leads 4-1.
Last meeting: 2007, Utah 27-20.
What's at Stake
Any hope either school for a BCS berth. Both teams are still in contention, but Thursday is basically an elimination game for the potential BCS busters. The winner will also have an inside track to the Mountain West Conference title.
Key Matchup
Utah's offense against TCU's defense. TCU ranks second nationally in total defense and has held seven opponents to a touchdown or less this season. The Utes average 36 points and 405 yards per game.
Players to watch
TCU: DE Jerry Hughes, who leads the nation in sacks with 14.
Utah: QB Brian Johnson. When TCU shut down BYU last month, the Horned Frogs didn't have to worry about a quarterback who can run like Johnson.
Figures
five years. ... Utah is calling for a ``blackout,'' encouraging fans to wear black and handing out 35,000 black rally towels before the game. ... TCU is 0-2 in Salt Lake City.

No. 23 Maryland (6-2) at Virginia Tech (5-3), 7:30 p.m. (ESPN)
Line: Virginia Tech by 3
Series record: Maryland leads 15-13.
Last meeting: 200, Virginia Tech won 28-9.
What's at Stake
Maryland (3-1) is the only Atlantic Coast Conference team with just one loss in league play, giving the Terps control of the Atlantic Division. Virginia Tech is one of five Coastal Division teams with two losses, meaning the final month will decide the ACC title opponents.
Key Matchup
Virginia Tech's offense against the Maryland defense. Starting quarterback Tyrod Taylor and backup Sean Glennon are both coming off injuries, and the Hokies' offense already ranks 112th out of 119 teams. Maryland allows just over 19 points per game, 31st in the nation.
Players to watch
Maryland: LB Moise Fokou, who leads the Terrapins with four sacks and could be zeroing in on an already hobbled Taylor or Glennon.
Utah: Cornerback Victor ``Macho'' Harris, who has four interceptions but whose daring style has led to several touchdowns against him.
Figures
nd twice in Thursday night games since 2004, winning 55-6 in Blacksburg in 2005 and 28-9 at Maryland the following year. ... This marks the fifth season in a row in which Virginia Tech will play two Thursday night games. ... Terps QB Chris Turner has thrown just one interception in his last 126 attempts. ... Darrius Heyward-Bey is 116 yards short of becoming the third wide receiver in Maryland history with 2,000 receiving yards.
