TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) -Florida State backup quarterback Xavier Lee apologized Tuesday for violating the team’s class attendance rules and receiving a two-game suspension.
“I made a mistake not holding up my responsibilities as far as going to classes like I should have,” Lee said. “I want to apologize to my teammates and coaches and let them know I plan on doing whatever it takes to make this situation right.”
Lee began the season behind Drew Weatherford but came off the bench to lead the Seminoles to a 21-14 win over Alabama and then started Florida State’s next three games.
Coach Bobby Bowden, though, put Weatherford back in the starting lineup last week against Duke after Lee’s seven turnovers contributed to losses against Wake Forest and Miami.
Weatherford again will start Saturday when the Seminoles (5-3, 2-3 ACC) travel to No. 2 Boston College (8-0, 4-0). Lee also will miss Florida State’s Nov. 10 trip to No. 11 Virginia Tech.
