WACO, Texas (AP) – Baylor entered the rankings at No. 25 for the first time since 1993 after beating Kansas State, and also became eligible to end a 16-year bowl drought.

The Bears’ appearance in the AP poll Sunday is their first since Sept. 5, 1993, when they were ranked 24th after opening the season with a 42-39 win over then-No. 25 Fresno State.
Baylor (6-2, 3-1 Big 12) held off Kansas State 47-42 on homecoming weekend Saturday behind Robert Griffin’s 404 yards passing and Jay Finley’s school-record 250 rushing yards.
The Bears go to Austin on Saturday night to face Texas. The Longhorns dropped out of the poll for the second time this year after a home loss to Iowa State.
