WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. (AP) – Eric Spillane kicked two field goals, Monmouth jumped out to a 19-point lead and its defense did the rest in a 19-7 win over St. Francis, Pa. on Saturday.
The Hawks (3-4, 3-1 Northeast Conference) held St. Francis (1-6, 1-4) to 178 yards total offense, including 66 yards rushing. Monmouth had four sacks in the second game of its first back-to-back wins since weeks eight and nine of the 2009 season.
Bobby Giles had 116 yards on 23 carries and Kyle Frazier had 178 yards and a touchdown on 18-for-27 passing for the Hawks.
Monmouth started the scoring on a 20-yard run by Bilal Sloan El. Then, Spillane kicked an 18-yard field goal, Frazier threw a 14-yard pass to Mike Roeder and Spillane added a 46-yard kick to finish off the Hawks’ scoring.
John Kelly threw a 10-yard touchdown pass to Omar Winston for the Red Flash’s score with 2:06 left.
