M (4-2) totaled 434 offensive yards, while holding Winston-Salem State to 81.
M 41-yard line and were shut out for only the second time in coach Kermit Blount's 16 seasons. The other time came in a 1996 loss to North Carolina Central.
M leading 3-0 after a first-quarter field goal, Battle scored the first touchdown of the game on a one-yard quarterback sneak.
The Rattlers extended the lead to 17-0 with 2:56 left in the second quarter on a 13-yard touchdown pass from Curtis Pulley to Adrian Smith. Pulley completed 11 of 14 passes for 126 yards, while Smith caught 10 passes for 99 yards.
en Lonvontae Page scored on a two-yard run with 10:24 left in the fourth quarter. The extra point was blocked.
Winston-Salem State quarterback Jarrett Dunston completed five of 17 passes for 36 yards in the game. Nathan Munford was Winston-Salem State's top rusher with 18 yards.
