MADISON, Wis. (AP) – No. 20 Wisconsin is riding a six-game winning streak against Minnesota in the battle for Paul Bunyan’s Axe when the rivalry renews on Saturday.
But the Gophers (1-4, 0-1 Big Ten) haven’t received an overwhelming amount of attention at practice this week. The Badgers (4-1, 0-1) have been far more focused on fixing mistakes that cost them in a loss to Michigan State.
Wisconsin will look to use freshman James White at tailback more. Coach Bret Bielema believes that will help keep reigning Big Ten offensive player of the year John Clay fresh.
Minnesota quarterback Adam Weber will start for the 44th time in his career on Saturday, making him the most experienced active signal-caller in major college football.
