SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) -Linebacker Darius Fleming epitomizes Notre Dame’s season.
He was the picture of Notre Dame’s futility against Michigan when he missed a tackle as quarterback Tate Forcier raced for a touchdown, then a week later delivered the hit that caused a game-clinching interception against Michigan State.
All three of Fleming’s tackles on defense against Purdue were for loss, including a sack for a loss of 6 yards.
For the season, the 6-1, 240-pound sophomore from Chicago has 11 tackles, seven for loss, including two sacks. Coach Charlie Weis says Fleming is getting more comfortable after making the switch from end to strongside linebacker this season.
Notre Dame hosts Washington on Saturday.
