LOS ANGELES (AP) -Southern California tailback Stafon Johnson is resting and tweeting two days after sustaining a frightening throat injury in a weightlifting accident.
Johnson is still recovering from seven hours of reconstructive surgery Monday after a weight bar fell on his neck, crushing his larynx and throat. The senior received a visit from the seventh-ranked Trojans’ coaching staff Wednesday, although his family is limiting his visitors.
Johnson also opened a Twitter account to communicate with fans sending good wishes.
“Thank you every1 4 all the love and support,” Johnson says in his first tweet.
Coach Pete Carroll says Johnson isn’t allowed to move his neck or head very much, but otherwise is recovering well.
