CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) – No. 11 Florida State may open Atlantic Coast Conference play without starting quarterback EJ Manuel.
The Seminoles junior hurt his non-throwing shoulder against No. 1 Oklahoma and is listed as questionable when they take on No. 21 Clemson (3-0) at Death Valley on Saturday.
Manuel hasn’t been ruled out, but freshman backup Clint Trickett took all the snaps with the first team at practice this week.
Clemson coach Dabo Swinney doesn’t care what the injury report says, he expects Manuel under center when the teams hit the field. Manuel has thrown for 666 yards and six touchdowns. He also has 79 yards rushing to lead Florida State (2-1)
The Tigers have injury concerns, too. Starting tailback Andre Ellington hurt his hamstring in beating Auburn, yet Swinney says he’ll play.
