PITTSBURGH (AP) -Pitt coach Dave Wannstedt has dismissed freshman defensive back Jeff Knox from the team following an off-campus incident.
School officials did not reveal any other details of the incident, which occurred Wednesday night. Pitt played No. 19 Miami on Thursday night.
Knox did not appear in Pitt’s first two games. He played his first two seasons of high school football at Pittsburgh Central Catholic before finishing up at DeMatha Catholic in Maryland.
Two other Pitt players, offensive lineman Keith Coleman and running back Jason Douglas were arrested this month and are suspended from the team. Defensive end Jabaal Sheard did not miss any games after pleading guilty to disorderly conduct following a July incident in Pittsburgh.
