COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -South Carolina linebacker Shaq Wilson is expected to play when the 12th-ranked Gamecocks take on No. 17 Auburn on Saturday night.
Wilson was the team’s top tackler last season but has missed the Gamecocks’ first three games with a hamstring injury. South Carolina assistant head coach for defense Ellis Johnson said Wilson has practiced all week and done well.
Johnson says Wilson has been a little rusty in his technique, but has been physically fine.
Johnson is unsure if he’ll start Wilson over Tony Straughter at Auburn, but the coach says that even if Wilson doesn’t open the game, he’ll get in early and play a lot.
Wilson is a junior from Jacksonville, Fla.
