SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) -Washington State’s top running back will miss the rest of the season with a leg injury.
James Montgomery suffered the injury in last week’s overtime win over Southern Methodist.
Coach Paul Wulff says Montgomery had surgery on his left leg Sunday and will not play again this year.
It doesn’t appear that any one hit knocked him out of action.
Montgomery had gained 167 yards in the first three games, averaging 4.5 yards per carry. The Cougars play at Southern Cal on Saturday.
