AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. (AP) -Air Force cornerback Reggie Rembert has been strapped to a backboard and carted off the field on a stretcher after injuring his neck on a tackle against Northwestern State.
Rembert raised his right hand and gave a thumbs-up to the crowd as he left Falcon Stadium on Saturday. He was taken to a hospital for X-rays.
The senior was injured in the first quarter when he brought down Demons tailback Sterling Endsley after a short pass.
The Falcons gathered around Rembert as he lay on the turf for nearly 10 minutes. Coach Troy Calhoun came over and patted him on the pads.
Rembert is one of the Mountain West Conference’s top defensive backs. He also returns punts.
