HOUSTON (AP) – Houston quarterback Case Keenum hasn’t played in a game in nearly a year, not since he injured his right knee in a Sept. 18 loss at UCLA.
Keenum will resume his assault on the NCAA record book Saturday after getting a rare sixth year of eligibility from the NCAA. And he will do it at home against the Bruins.
He has come a long way from doctors telling him his season was over and sobbing in the arms of his father at the Rose Bowl. His school is promoting him as a Heisman Trophy candidate and barring another injury, Keenum could wind up making a case for himself.
