PITTSBURGH (AP) – Pittsburgh coach Paul Chryst isn’t worried about his team overlooking Delaware in the season opener on Saturday.
The Panthers lost to Youngstown State, like Delaware a member of the Football Championship Subdivision, in Chryst’s first game as head coach two years ago. Chryst says there’s little chance Pitt will make the same mistake of taking the Blue Hens lightly.
Pitt is one of the youngest teams in the country. The Panthers have 10 starters who are underclassmen, including sophomore wide receiver Tyler Boyd and quarterback Chad Voytik, who will make his first start.
Senior safety Ray Vinopal says the culture in the locker room has changed since Chryst took over, one of the main reasons he’s not worried about Pitt coming in overconfident.
