AUSTIN, Texas (AP) – Suspended Texas senior safety Christian Scott has been reinstated to the team after pleading no contest to a misdemeanor assault charge.
Coach Mack Brown says Scott will still have to sit out the first three games, but will be allowed to practice with the scout team. Scott had been suspended from all team activities since his Aug. 8 arrest.
Scott entered his plea Monday and received two year’s deferred adjudication and must serve 40 hours of community service. He also must attend a stress management class and pay restitution to the victim.
Police said Scott assaulted a woman trying repossess his car. He had faced a Class A misdemeanor that carried up to a year in jail and fines up to $4,000.
