TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) -Now, it’s Mark Ingram’s turn.
The Alabama tailback is the latest Heisman Trophy winner trying to join Archie Griffin and collect a second.
Tim Tebow and Sam Bradford both fell short. Ingram was the third straight sophomore to strike Heisman gold, giving him at least one chance to match Griffin’s feat.
The former Ohio State running back won the Heisman in 1974 and 1975.
Griffin predicts someone will win the award not only twice but three times.
Ingram says he has to focus on winning games not Heismans. He helped lead the Crimson Tide to a national championship last season.
Before the recent sophomore surplus, 11 juniors had won the Heisman since Griffin won back-to-back. Only four returned for another shot.
