SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -U.S. Sen. Orrin Hatch says his push for reform in the Bowl Championships Series isn’t going to change regardless of conference changes for Utah and possibly BYU.
Hatch says in an e-mail to The Associated Press that the system is what is led the Utes to flee the Mountain West for the Pac-10 and the Cougars to consider leaving the MWC and play as an independent.
The Utah Republican says he’s fighting to get revenue distributed to all schools – not just the ones affiliated with the BCS.
Hatch’s state is also home to Utah State, which is in non-BCS Western Athletic Conference. The WAC’s future is unclear now that an arrangement to have BYU join in everything but football fell apart when the MWC reeled in Fresno State and Nevada.
