CORAL GABLES, Fla. (AP) -Orlando Franklin dropped more than 20 pounds during the offseason, prepping to move to left tackle for his senior season at Miami.
So there’s some irony: The Hurricanes’ season largely rests on his slimmed-down shoulders.
Not only will Franklin be quarterback Jacory Harris’ primary protector in 2010, he wants to be the leader of the entire team. So this summer, instead of going back to his nicely furnished apartment after grueling training-camp practices, Franklin goes back to an empty dorm room for solitude, study and sleep.
Franklin says, “If we don’t do what we’re supposed to do as an offensive line this year, nothing’s going to work.” And he’s taking the responsibility to make it happen.
