SEATTLE (AP) -Big Ten commissioner Jim Delany says he decided on Indianapolis for the first conference championship game in football because it was the simplest choice to make.
Delany was at a downtown Seattle hotel on Saturday as Michigan faced the NCAA infractions committee. Delany declined to comment about the hearing during a lunch break.
Delany says he wanted to give television partners a firm idea of where the first title game would be played, then move forward with better study of where the game would be played in the future. The league welcomes Nebraska next year and becomes a 12-team conference.
Delany says a decision on divisions for the 12 teams could be coming within a month.
