COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -South Carolina redshirt freshman quarterback Stephen Garcia is expected to miss a week of practice because of a sprained right ankle.
Garcia will miss Wednesday night's scrimmage, coach Steve Spurrier said Monday. Garcia told Spurrier he was injured in Saturday's scrimmage.
Garcia, suspended by the university for underage drinking in March, joined the team for fall practice Aug. 1. He's had three run-ins with police since arriving on campus in January 2007.
Garcia is listed as the third-string quarterback.
