ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) – Former Michigan football coach Lloyd Carr has been honored by a generous donor and many of his former players.
It was announced Saturday night that the Al Glick family made a $3 million gift to name the seventh floor “The Coach Carr Pediatric Cancer Unit,” in Mott Children’s Hospital when it opens in November.
About 80 people combined to donate more than $750,000 to create “The Mountain Top Fund,” to honor Carr by helping Mott patients reach the summit of their lives.
Charles Woodson says the donations show how much respect people have for Carr.
Carr retired after the 2007 season with 122 wins and the 1997 national championship on his resume. He also left a legacy that included inspiring his players to visit children at Mott.
