HAINES CITY, Fla. (AP) -Mourners of a Florida International University football player slain on campus remembered a player who showed passion on and off the field.
Saturday’s memorial service for 22-year-old Kendall Berry drew about 1,000 people, many wearing T-shirts and buttons with the player’s portrait.
Berry was stabbed to death outside the Miami campus recreation center on March 25 after getting into an argument with another man about Berry’s girlfriend. Quentin Rashad Wyche is charged with second-degree murder.
Haines City High School football coach Bill Buldini remembered his former player fondly, saying “you couldn’t help but feel proud love for him and root for him because everything he did he did with such passion.”
