SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) – Coach Brian Kelly doesn’t know how long it will take to decide whether Everett Golson or Malik Zaire will be Notre Dame’s starting quarterback.
Kelly spoke with the media Tuesday, a day before the Fighting Irish start spring practice. He says it is going to take time to see how the two will compete.
Golson helped Notre Dame get to the national championship game in 2012 and started 12 regular-season games for the Irish last season. He is heading into his final season. Zaire played well after replacing Golson in the regular-season finale in a blowout loss to USC and started as the Irish upset No. 22 LSU 31-28 in the Music City Bowl in a game where both played. Zaire has three years of eligibility left.
