A person familiar with the situation tells The Associated Press that former longtime Penn State assistant Tom Bradley is leaving West Virginia after one season to become defensive coordinator at UCLA.
The person spoke on condition of anonymity Monday night because the deal was still being finalized.
ESPN.com first reported Bradley had been hired by UCLA to replace Jeff Ulbrich, who jumped to the NFL’s Atlanta Falcons earlier this month.
Bradley was a player and assistant coach under Joe Paterno at Penn State for more than 40 years, including 12 seasons as defensive coordinator. He became interim head coach when Paterno was fired in 2011 after his former assistant Jerry Sandusky was arrested for child molestation.
Bradley was senior associate head coach under Dana Holgorsen at West Virginia last season.
