LOS ANGELES (AP) -James Cregg has been hired by Southern California as an assistant coach, following Lane Kiffin from Tennessee to the Trojans.
USC didn’t specify a job title Wednesday for Cregg, Kiffin’s offensive line coach last season with the Volunteers. He spent the previous two seasons as an offensive line assistant with the Oakland Raiders when Kiffin was the head coach.
Cregg and Kiffin were graduate assistants on the same coaching staff in 1999 at Colorado State, Cregg’s alma mater.
Cregg is a native of Norco, Calif., east of Los Angeles in Riverside County.
Kiffin’s father, Monte, and top recruiter Ed Orgeron are also on the USC staff.
