NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) – Vanderbilt coach James Franklin has tapped his Maryland ties in filling out his offensive coaching staff.
Franklin announced six of his offensive assistants Thursday, and the new Vanderbilt coach convinced three of his former co-workers from Maryland to join him at a program at the bottom of the Southeastern Conference with John Donovan his offensive coordinator.
He also brought over Charles Bankins as his tight ends/special teams coach. Franklin hired Dwight Galt, a strength coach who has spent 27 years at Maryland.
Franklin kept Herb Hand as his offensive line coach with Chris Beatty as his wide receivers coach. He worked with Ricky Rahne at Kansas State and hired him as his quarterbacks coach.
