STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) – Penn State’s spring semester has started and quarterbacks Rob Bolden and Kevin Newsome are enrolled in the school following questions about their futures.
A team spokesman said Tuesday night both players were still with the team, and there was no change in their status.
Bolden’s father has said coach Joe Paterno denied his son’s request last week for a transfer. Bolden was the first true freshman to start in JoePa’s 45-year tenure as head coach, and was the starting quarterback until being replaced by Matt McGloin at midseason.
Newsome also had spoken to coaches about his future at least a couple times, and didn’t travel with the team for the Outback Bowl.
Penn State also has touted freshman Paul Jones at quarterback. Jones redshirted this season.
