SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (AP) – Running back LaMichael James is not straying from tradition just because Oregon is playing for the national title.
He’s all business, telling reporters Thursday morning that anyone who looks at the big game as different from any other game is probably going to lose.
James, a Heisman finalist and the nation’s top running back with an average of just under 153 yards rushing a game, has clearly embraced coach Chip Kelly’s philosophy that no game is bigger than the next.
The sophomore running back and quarterback Darron Thomas anchor a speedy spread-option offense that has helped keep Oregon undefeated this year.
The No. 2 Ducks face No. 1 Auburn on Monday night in the BCS national championship game in Glendale, Ariz.
