STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) – Penn State quarterback Rob Bolden could seek a transfer following a freshman year in which he started the first half of the season before being benched for sophomore Matt McGloin.
Bolden’s mother, Tonia Williams, told The Associated Press on Tuesday that Bolden and his father were traveling to Happy Valley to speak with the coaching staff. The school is on break, and players could go home after last week’s 37-24 loss to Florida in the Outback Bowl.
Williams said by phone her son told her he was looking to transfer, but wasn’t sure of plans. Williams says she doesn’t agree and hopes Bolden will stay, but she stands by her son.
The quarterback’s father, Robert Bolden, Sr., has reportedly said his son intends to transfer.
