(Eds: APNewsNow. Will be updated. With AP Photos.) By JOHN ZENOR AP Sports Writer FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) - Manti Te'o and Barrett Jones are two of college football's good guys and best players. The Notre Dame linebacker and Alabama center have led their teams into the BCS championship after postponing NFL paychecks to return for their senior seasons. They're good academically and have collected numerous awards and honors for football. Coaches say Te'o and Jones are just what they want in players - and they're what the sport needs after wave upon wave of scandal that has stretched from State College, Pa. to Miami over the past couple of years. Notre Dame defensive coordinator Bob Diaco says Te'o is even ``a better person'' than he is a player. Tide coach Nick Saban has called Jones ``as fine a person as you're ever going to be around.'' |
