PHOENIX (AP) – The Auburn Tigers have arrived for the BCS championship game and it looks like they brought half the state of Alabama with them.
The Tigers landed at Sky Harbor Airport just before sunset Monday in a massive jumbo jet that took nearly a half hour to clear of the 400-or-so passengers.
Auburn’s players filed into a fleet of buses waiting on the tarmac and were headed to the team hotel to get ready for the final week of preparation heading into the Jan. 10 title game against Oregon at University of Phoenix Stadium in nearby Glendale.
The Tigers (13-0) are hoping to win the title that eluded the program in 2004, when they didn’t get invited to the championship game despite being undefeated.
The Ducks arrived on Sunday.
