NEW ORLEANS (AP) – Finally, it’s Terrelle Pryor vs. Ryan Mallett.
This quarterback matchup might’ve occurred three times already if Mallett had stayed at Michigan. But Big Tex transferred to Arkansas after Rich Rodriguez arrived in Ann Arbor, so this intriguing showdown – the scrambler vs. the passer – had to wait until Tuesday’s Sugar Bowl.
Pryor will lead No. 6 Ohio State (11-1) against Mallett and the No. 8 Razorbacks (10-2) in what figures to be a high-scoring shootout.
Mallett has passed for more than 7,000 yards over the last two seasons. Pryor is a dual threat, befuddling defenses both running and throwing. Plus, he’s got plenty of incentive for a big night, since he faces a five-game suspension next season for selling awards and getting tattoo discounts.
