College Football Week 13 Picks
A couple of favorites and one home underdog grabbed our attention in Week 13. Find out which teams made our College Football Week 13 Picks & Predictions sheet.
Michigan vs. Ohio State
It’s tempting to take the points and pick Michigan in a rivalry game, but this one will be a laugher at some point. The Wolverines simply don’t matchup well with the Buckeyes, just as they didn’t last week against Wisconsin. Michigan is built on speed and fellow Big Ten opponents like Wisconsin and Ohio State are all about power. Denard Robinson will have a tough time getting the Wolverines’ offense rolling against a stout Ohio State front even, while Terrelle Pryor should have no problems marching up and down the field against a suspect Michigan defense. The favorite is 4-1 against the spread in the last five meetings between these two teams according to latest college football trends, while the Wolverines are just 1-5 ATS in their last six against the Buckeyes. Our pick is Ohio State -17.
Iowa vs. Minnesota
Iowa doesn’t have much to play for but then again neither does Minnesota. The Hawkeyes are 4-1 against the spread in their last five trips to Minnesota and 11-4 ATS in their last 15 games against the Gophers. Minnesota, meawhile, is just 1-6 against the number in its last seven home games and 1-4 ATS in its last five games following a bye week. Even without star running back Adam Robinson (who suffered a hard hit against OSU and will likely miss the Minnesota game) in the lineup, the Hawkeyes have more than enough offensively in Ricky Stanzi and Marvin McNutt to handily beat a Minnesota team that struggles on both sides of the ball. Our pick is Iowa, which is -14.5 according to oddsmakers from online sports book Sportsbook.com.
South Carolina vs. Clemson
This game has trouble written all over it for Stephen Garcia and the Gamecocks. They know that the SEC title game awaits them next week and now they have to finish up their season against a non-conference foe (albeit a rival). And it’s not like Clemson doesn’t have anything to play for. The Tigers can increase their bowl standing with a win and you know they’d like nothing more than to upset South Carolina on their home turf. Clemson is 19-7 against the number in their last 26 games as an underdog and 5-2 against the number versus a team with a winning record. South Carolina is just 1-5 ATS in its last six games following a straight up win and 1-4 ATS in its last five road games versus a team with a winning home record. We’re going with and the Tigers – Kyle Parker our pick Clemson +2.5.
LSU vs. Arkansas
The last time these two teams met, Ryan Mallett completed just 17 of 39 passes for 227 yards and an interception in a 33-30 overtime loss in 2009. LSU’s defense didn’t look great last week against Ole Miss, but should be stingier against an opponent that won’t sneak up on them. Tigers’ quarterback Jordan Jefferson threw for a career-high 254 yards and a touchdown, while also adding a rushing score in last week’s win over the Rebels. LSU posted a season-best 470 yards of total offense and if the Tigers’ defense comes to play, it won’t take that kind of offensive output to beat the Hogs. Our pick is LSU, who is a 3.5-point underdog according to latest college football odds.
