Big 12 Matchup
No. 2
Texas has hopes to play in the BCS Championship game this year, but on Saturday the Longhorns will host
Colorado, who will be treating this game like their national championship game.
The two Big XII foes will face off at 7:15PM ET from Texas Memorial Stadium.
Bet Colorado at Texas
The Longhorns have had an fairly easy road to a 4-0 start, with their lone challenge coming in a 34-24 win over Texas Tech three weeks ago. The key in Saturday’s game against an over-matched
Colorado team will be for
Texas to match the Buffaloes intensity, and not get caught looking past them with the Red River Shootout awaiting
Texas next week in a game with
Oklahoma. Colt McCoy has thrown for 1,145 yards and nine touchdowns on the season, but also has five interceptions for the Longhorns. Jordan Shipley has caught 36 passes for 436 yards and two scores for Texas, while Vondrell McGee and Tre’ Newton have each rushed for over 200 yards.
Texas leads the nation in points per-game and are fourth in yards per-game and the Longhorns also rank second in the country in fewest rushing yards allowed as a defense.
The Buffaloes have not had much to be excited about this year, as they are off to a 1-3 start in 2009. Dan Hawkins is in his fourth-year as head coach, leaving
Boise
State to take the job, but has struggled to three losing seasons, and this season, Hawkins needs to have a winning year to keep his job. Saturday could give Hawkins that marquee win he needs to hold on to his job, but the Buffaloes appear to be heavily over-matched.
Colorado quarterback and Dan Hawkins’ son, Cody Hawkins, has thrown for 1,045 yards and seven touchdowns on the year, but also has seven interceptions. The seven picks ranks in the top 10 in the country for the most of any quarterback.
Colorado also hasn’t been able to establish much in the running game as Rodney Stewart has 270 yards with three touchdowns, but as a team, the Buffaloes rank second to last in the Big XII in team rushing yards with 375. On defense,
Colorado is last in the conference in points allowed per-game, yards allowed per-game, and rushing yards allowed.
Oddsmakers from online sports book SBGGLOBAL have made
Texas 32.5-point home favorites over
Colorado on Saturday night. The over/under total for this game has been established at 62.
