Maryland vs. Penn State Prediction
Will the Penn State defense be able to slow down Maryland when the two Big Ten foes meet up today at Noon ET on the Big Ten Network?
According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, Maryland is a slim favorite on the road, as the Golden Gophers are getting odds of -2.5 points against Maryland. The over/under total for the contest is listed at 57 points. The road team has won three straight in this series and they have split the over/under total in their two Big Ten meetings.
Bet on Maryland vs. Penn State
Maryland is off to a 4-0 start to the season following a 50-7 win over Purdue. While the Terps are 3-1 with the under this season, it isn’t due to a lack of offense. Maryland is putting up 43.3 points and 466.3 yards per game on offense. The Terps have one of the top ground attacks in the country, averaging 300 yards per game rushing. Five different players have over 100 yards rushing. Leading the way is Ty Johnson, who has 333 yards with three touchdowns. QB Perry Hills has added 550 passing yards with five scores and 104 rushing yards. The reason for all the unders for Maryland is because of a defense that is giving up just 14.5 points and 325.3 yards per game.
Penn State is coming off a big 29-26 win over Minnesota in OT last week to get to 3-2 on the season and 1-1 in the Big Ten. The Nittany Lions are a perfect 5-0 with the over this season due to a defense that is allowing 31.4 points and 403.8 yards per game. Penn State has really struggled against the run, allowing 216.6 yards per game. On offense, the Nittany Lions are putting up 29 points per contest, but averaging just 365 yards. While Saquon Barkley has run for 380 yards, the team has just 541 total rushing yards. Trace McSorley has been the offensive leader with 1,284 passing yards and six touchdowns.

Maryland is definitely going to be able to run the ball on Penn State. The question is can Penn State move the ball consistently on the Gophers? I don’t know about consistently, but I do think Penn State will score some points at home. This game could be similar to the Penn State and Pitt game, where they combined for 81 points. The total seems too low for this contest.
