Texas Tech vs. ASU Pick
In what should be a game full of offensive fire power, who will come out on top when Arizona State hosts Texas Tech tonight at 10PM ET on FS1?
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Arizona State is a slight favorite in this game, as the Sun Devils are getting odds of -3 points against the Red Raiders. The over/under total for the contest has been set at 79 points. Texas Tech picked up a 37-23 win over Arizona State back in 2013 despite being a 17-point underdog.
Bet on Texas Tech vs. Arizona State
The Red Raiders started the season with a 69-17 win over Stephen F. Austin last week, covering a 37.5-point spread. Tech has covered in four of its last five games. In classic Tech fashion, the Red Raiders had 758 yards of offense in the win, including 633 yards through the air. Patrick Mahomes II was 30 of 43 passing for 483 yards and four touchdowns. As a team, Tech attempted 71 passes in the game. Mahomes was also the leading rusher with 57 yards and two scores. Defensively, Tech did give up 312 passing yards, which isn’t surprising in such a fast-paced, blowout of a game.
Arizona State opened the season with a 44-13 win over Northern Arizona. The Sun Devils have covered in five straight games now. ASU amassed 456 yards of offense in the win, but gave up 425 yards to NAU, including 369 passing yards. ASU was most effective on the ground, rushing for 276 yards on 46 carries. Manny Wilkins rushed for 89 yards to lead the ground attack while also throwing for 180 yards on 20 of 27 passing.

The big stat ASU fans should be worried about is 369 passing yards allowed to NAU. If NAU can amass that kind of passing yardage then Texas Tech should be able to carve up this secondary. ASU shouldn’t have too much trouble moving the ball either, but their passing game has some questions. This game should be score vs. score, but I am not confident that ASU can keep pace with Tech. The Red Raiders have a lot of confidence under coach Kliff Kingsbury, and I like them to get the upset.
