Iowa 2011 Season Odds
(The Spread) – The Iowa Hawkeyes aren’t getting much respect from publications, but oddsmakers know better than going against Kirk Ferentz.
The 13th-year head coach of Iowa has an 89-60 record with the Hawkeyes and despite returning just 10 starters for 2011, Iowa is looking to make a run at the Big Ten Championship and Legends Division title.
Off the field issues have led to some holes on offense, but Iowa still has a powerful running back in Marcus Coker, who rushed for 645 yards and three touchdowns in 2010 while sitting behind Adam Robinson on the depth chart. With Robinson booted off the team, Coker will see the primary carries this season and oddsmakers have him with 90/1 odds to win the Heisman Trophy this season. Iowa also had a strong rushing defense last season, allowing only 102 yards per game, while holding opponents just 17 points per game.
According to oddsmakers from Bodog, Iowa also has 60/1 odds of winning the 2012 BCS National Championship. In terms of Big Ten odds, Iowa sits at 20/1 to win the Big Ten while the Hawkeyes have 3/1 odds to win the Legends Division.

Iowa has won the national title just one time in program history and the conference title 11 times in its history. Ferentz has led Iowa to two of those titles, winning the Big Ten in 2004 and 2002.
Last season, Iowa was a surprising 6-6-1 against the point spread odds. The Hawkeyes have been 70-49-3 against the spread over the last 10 seasons and 2010 marked just the third time in 10 seasons that Iowa has finished .500 or below against the spread. Iowa was strong at home, covering the spread in five of seven games, while going just 1-4 against the spread on the road. For the over/under, Iowa hit the over five times, the under six times, and split in two games in 2010.
