According to oddsmakers from Bodog, the Trojans have been given over/under odds of 7.5 wins for the 2011 season. A pair of Trojans also have odds to win the 2011 Heisman Trophy, as quarterback Matt Barkley has 45/1 odds while Robert Woods has 80/1 odds.
The Trojans are in their second season with coach Lane Kiffin. This is the second season of a two-year postseason ban for USC, so the Trojans are unable to contend for the BCS National Championship and PAC-12 Championship.
USC has won at least 8 games in their last nine seasons, including an 8-5 record in 2010. The Trojans were 3-3 at home and 5-2 on the road last season. Three losses last season came by four points or less.
This season, the Trojans bring back 13 starters, led by Barkley, who enters his junior season with USC. Barkley threw for 2,791 yards and 26 touchdowns in 2010 while also having 12 interceptions. He completed 62 percent of his passes. Woods led USC in receiving last season with 65 receptions for 792 yards and six touchdowns. USC lose four players that had 20 receptions or more, which puts pressure on Woods to step up his play.
The Trojans have somewhat of a tough schedule with road trips to Notre Dame and a home game with Utah in non-conference play. PAC-12 play has USC heading to Oregon, Arizona State, Cal, and Colorado. The Trojans will host the likes of Stanford, Arizona, and UCLA.
