According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, Elliott is 6/1 to win the Heisman Trophy, which puts him ahead of TCU quarterback Trevone Boykin (7/1) and the rest of the field in terms of the odds. Mississippi State signal-caller Dak Prescott, LSU running back Leonard Fournette and Georgia back Nick Chubb are all 8/1, respectively, to win the Heisman.
Elliott went off for 220 yards on 20 carries and two touchdowns against Wisconsin in the Big Ten Championship game and then produced a 20-230-2 line versus Alabama in the playoffs. For his final performance of the 2014-15 season, he racked up 246 yards on 36 carries and four touchdowns versus Oregon in the title game.
On the year, Elliott rushed for 1,878 yards and 18 touchdowns collectively. There’s no reason to believe, barring injury, that Elliott won’t improve on those numbers in 2015-16. He’s the best back in the country.
